Let’s talk Jean Shorts…you either love them or you hate them. It took me more than half my life to find the love. Once I stopped caring about “sizing up” (much like I have to do in jeans) I guess you could say I sort of stoping caring and jumped on the bandwagon.
When your an adult, or a mom jean shorts can be tricky. You find yourself feeling much like Goldilocks from the story “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”. These are too tight, these are too short, these are too low-rise, these are just right! I’m hoping I can help answer some of the questions for you! Below I’m listing my absolute favorite pairs!
Here Goes:
Jcrew Factory: What I like about JF is the stretch. These shorts have a ton of stretch to them AND they are long enough so your butt checks are popping out! I find they are true to size BUT since they have stretch I would size down. Who doesn’t love that!
American Eagle: Much like my love for their “Mom Jeans” I totally love their “mom shorts” EXCEPT you do need to size up, like a lot. At least I do. I’m an 8 in AE and I get a 12 in the shorts. They also have a little stretch and have coverage. Also I got a Large in the drawstring denim, they are soooo comfy!
Gap: So these are my favorite mom shorts but let me just tell you they take a good month to break in! Because I have larger thighs I’m always looking for a good pair of jean shorts that flare out and aren’t so tight to me leg. These are it! They are super tight at fist but don’t give in! Definitely size up too!
These overalls are really great too. I sized up and wish I didn’t. They definitely are true to size!
Abercrombie: So this is the first pair of shorts I’ve owned from them since high school. I have no idea why I ordered “low rise” but I actually like them! They are more of a wear to the beach with a bathing suit type short, but I like them. Need to try a High-Rise pair and get back to you!
Nordstrom: This pair I majorly splurged on. I know it’s a lot. To be fair they were on sale. I honestly do think its ok to splurge on one good pair than have 10 you hate. I’ve had these for two years now and they are getting a little beat up, but I love them. They don’t have a ton of stretch and are definitely a pair I wear to the beach, I can wear to the grocery store OR dress up with a blazer! LOVE them!
Levis: These are new, haven’t had a chance to break them in yet but they are adorable. I love the detail. They have zero stretch so definitely SIZE UP!
I hope this can get you started for spring, I have a few others I will be adding to the list in the near future! Just remember, it’s not about the size, its about how you FEEL when you’re in them!
HAPPY SHOPPING!
