I’m going to be honest, I used to be really bad at taking care of my skin. So bad that I would go tanning, worship the suns UV rays, and never wash my face at the end of the day. I can even remember a times I would ask for extra hand towel at the tanning salon so I could stack them under my head in hopes I could get my face closer to light to get more tan. Horrible, I know.
Times are a-changing! About a year ago (yes I know only a year) I decided it was time to start being more diligent about my skincare routine. Especially when it comes to washing my face. It only takes five minutes, why am I so lazy? I guess part of me got frustrated while trying products…My skin is so sensitive. Every time I would try something my face would break out worse than if I didn’t wash it. My skin must have been used to the routine of being covered in a days worth of makeup and residue. Gross.
A few years ago, my mom (in an attempt to make me take care of my skin) got me a Clarisonic Brush that came with a cleanser. It sat in a cabinet for literally 5 years until a year ago when I whipped it out of the cabinet and never looked back! That thing is awesome! Not only does it take your makeup off flawlessly, it feels amazing and Literally takes 2 minutes. I usually keep it in my shower, so its already in there and forces me to do it! At this point, I actually look forward to using it (Thanks Mom)!
So now, lets talk cleanser and toner. I’ve tried so many. Rodan and Fields: who can actually afford that stuff? Proactive: worked, but to be honest I have been lucky enough to never have acne with the exception of a few spots here or there, so I really just needed something to clean, cleanse, moisturize, and possibly tighten my face without breaking the bank! If you’ve been following me for a while I’m a huge champion of IT Cosmetics products. I saw a deal on a Cleanser and “miracle water.” Shockingly I had only a good reaction! The cleanser smells great, feels soothing and definitely get the job done while incorporating with my Clarisonic brush! I use this most mornings and at night.
At night, after I cleanse I will roll my Mico-needler around my face a few times to stimulate the collagen and hopefully tighten! Then I will apply my Miracle Water with a cotton pad (I use this in the morning too, before I apply my self tanner). I also do LOVE to spray Trader Joes Rose Water on my face throughout the day to keep my skin “dewey” and hydrated. I couldn’t live without that stuff!
When it comes to shaving my face, I do that once every two weeks. With the exception of my chin that is as hairy as a goat after 4 days! Anyone else have the problem?? It was like this before I used the shaver too. I have another blog post about that one.
Occasionally, if I feel puffy I will use a Jade Roller thats been cooling in my freezer for 40 minutes! Feels so dang good!! I’ll do that before bed or in the morning before I apply my makeup.
So I know this was a lot of information, but all of these products are super affordable and have lasted me months. Keep in mind, a little goes a LONG way. Also, I am not a skin care expert, this is just what works for me. I am constantly asked how I get “glowy” skin. This routine has worked tremendously for me, so I hope I can pass the glow onto you!
