I remember being in middle school seeing an infomercial for a self tanner called “Tan Perfect” on QVC and begging my Mom to buy it. It was a bottle that contained a thick brown substance that you rubbed onto your skin with the one plastic glove they gave you. As I sit here writing this I googled the product to see if it still exists and the old infomercial popped up. A true classic! My love of “Tan Perfect” evolved into getting certified in spray tanning at a salon for many years. I guess I like identify myself as some what of a Tan Expert. You can not beat the feeling of a fresh tan glow! It’s good for the soul!
One of my most frequently asked questions is “What self tanner do you use?” AND for years (I’m talking over 10) I have used the same thing. I am a creature of habit, and once I use something I LOVE I’m very loyal. Since becoming an influencer, I have had the opportunity to use a few different kinds of self-tanners and I’d love to share with you my thoughts…
L’oreal Sublime: This is the product I’ve been loyal to since college. I use the medium tan lotion on my face (love anything with a shimmer) almost every other day and the spray bottle for my body. This CAN come out streaky if not applied correctly. You really have to hold the bottle far enough away from your body to let the mist evenly cover you (similar to the feeling if someone is actually spraying you). If you hold the bottle to close you WILL get straight up streaks. You do NOT want the mist to feel like lines going on your skin, you want to feel like an even mist is being dispersed. I would say hold about a foot away, when spraying use a circular motion and just let the mist fall onto your skin. This could take some practice, I have become a pro over 10+ years. I love the color of this and it doesn’t come off on your sheets, even better!
Mine Tan: I recently got the privilege to try the Nano Mist and I am so excited about it! So you know when you get a spray tan and its the best feeling BUT your face fades so quickly because of makeup, sunscreen, etc? This little tool solves those problems! It literally is a handheld spray gun that fits in your purse or carry on. It touches up your face and keeps it from fading. I LOVE this thing. It also comes with a little mitt so you can rub in where necessary! OH and they also make a several shades of tanners for your body, as well as a tanner specialized if you are active, so you don’t sweat off your tan!
Rodan and Fields: This is a foam tanner that I was super impressed by. Like I said earlier I love using a spray on my body so the foam is a little out of my comfort zone BUT I loved the results. In comparison to the L’oreal it was definitely darker! It also lasted longer. My only problem with it, which is minor is that it did come off on my sheets. Overall I give it a good rating! If you’d like to purchase this product or have any questions contact my sweet friend Kendal at http://kendalkoenig.myrandf.com.
Saint Tropez: This is something I have used in the past, before the days of L’oreal. I tried it again recently and wasn’t as impressed as I felt I should be because of the price. However I will say that I do love that they have a spray that is an express tan and I need to try that!
When it comes to getting an actual “spray tan” at a salon, I prefer a booth but do your research! I will always carry a tan mitt with my in case I need to rub in any problem areas after the spray and ALWAYS bring baby powder with me so that I can dust on where I feel sticky like on my neck and in the creases of my arms!
Hope this information helps! If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Happy Tanning!!
